web2app

A local web GUI for Pake: turn any website into a desktop app.

Builds run one at a time from a queue, each build is kept in a history you can reopen, builds work offline after the first install, and you can pair a phone to send it links. It runs on your machine at 127.0.0.1 only.

Install with Homebrew

brew trust gitguy268/tap
brew install gitguy268/tap/web2app

Then run web2app and open http://localhost:7417/. Builds are kept in ~/Library/Application Support/web2app (set WEB2APP_BUILDS to move them). Pake also needs Rust.

Run it locally, step by step

  1. Install Node.js 22 or newer and Rust, which Pake needs to build apps.

  2. Get the code:

    git clone https://github.com/Gitguy268/web2app.git
    cd web2app

  3. Install the dependencies:

    npm install

  4. Start it:

    npm start

On a Mac you can double-click start.command instead of these two steps.

  5. Open http://localhost:7417/ in your browser. Press Ctrl+C in the terminal to stop.
